Intensive Dog Training Courses in Lancashire
Sometimes, weekly classes or casual training just aren’t enough – especially if your dog needs focused support, or if you’re short on time and want fast, effective progress. That’s exactly why we offer intensive dog training courses from our base in Lancashire, designed for owners who want noticeable results in a short space of time.
These courses are tailored to the individual dog and built around your goals. Whether you’re working on obedience, behaviour issues, socialisation or advanced control, we structure the training to give maximum progress over a condensed period. For many clients, it’s the reset they’ve been searching for – and the clarity their dog needs to finally make a breakthrough.
We’ve worked with hundreds of dogs and their owners who’ve struggled with consistency, hit plateaus, or just needed a professional to step in and get things moving in the right direction. With our experience and hands-on approach, we build better habits quickly, then show you how to maintain them at home.
What Are Intensive Dog Training Courses?
Our intensive courses involve multiple training sessions delivered over a short time frame – typically 3 to 10 days – depending on the issues you’re facing and the goals you want to achieve.
We offer two main formats:
- Day Training Courses – You drop your dog off with us each day for focused training, then collect them in the evening.
- Residential Training Blocks – Your dog stays with us for the duration of the programme, receiving round-the-clock structure and guidance.
Both formats focus on consistency, repetition and real-life exposure. Dogs are trained by professionals in real-world situations – from quiet villages to busy parks and public spaces – so their behaviour improves where it really matters.
Intensive vs Residential Dog Training – What’s the Difference?
We’re often asked whether an intensive course is the same as our residential dog training programme. While they share some similarities, they’re suited to different needs.
- Residential Training is ideal for longer-term behavioural work, typically lasting 2–4 weeks, where your dog lives with us full-time.
- Intensive Courses are shorter, high-impact training blocks – ideal for obedience work or short-term problem solving.
Not sure which is best? We’re happy to talk through the options and help you make the right decision based on your lifestyle and your dog’s needs.
Types of Dog Training Courses
Intensive Dog Training Process
Step 1: Consultation
When you bring your dog to A&T Trained Dogs, you will meet one of our trainers and have an initial consultation. This is so our trainers can understand what kind of training your dog requires.
Step 2: Assessment
Our expert trainers will then assess your dog by spending all day, every day with them in the first week to collect information to build a tailored plan for your dog.
Step 3: Rehabilitation
Once the intensive dog training is completed, you will receive an extensive handover to teach you how to continue moving forward and build your relationship with your dog.
Benefits of Intensive Dog Training
Consistency
A big benefit from intensive dog training is the consistency of it. Our professional trainers will be working with your dog multiple times a day for a number of weeks. This intensive training experience would be difficult to achieve at home, that is why we recommend our facility.
Convenience
If you are unable to commit to one-to-one sessions, have to work away a lot, or are on holiday for a period of time, our intensive dog training courses are a great option. Leave your dog with us, and we will train them and take care of them whilst you are away.
Structured Environment
Bringing your dog to a professional training facility can provide the structured and controlled environment they may need. This is especially important if your dog gets distracted easily or requires a more structured routine going forward.
Improve Behavioural Issues
For dogs with behavioural issues, such as aggression, intensive dog training can be an effective way to address and improve these behaviours.
Cost of Intensive Dog Training
At A&T Trained Dogs, our intensive dog training courses begin at £800 a week.

FAQs – Intensive Dog Training Courses
How many days should I book for my dog?
That depends on your dog’s needs. For basic obedience polishing, 3–5 days may be enough. For more complex issues, we may recommend 7–10 days or a residential stay.
Will I need to keep up the training after the course?
Yes. We’ll show you exactly what to do at home to maintain and build on the progress made during the course. Consistency is key.
Can intensive training fix behavioural problems?
It can make a big difference, especially when combined with a clear home structure. For more serious behavioural issues (like aggression), we may recommend combining the course with behaviourist input.
Will I see results immediately?
Most clients see a noticeable change within the first few days. However, lasting change depends on continued structure and reinforcement at home.
Do you accept all breeds?
Yes, we work with all breeds – from small companion dogs to large working breeds. Each plan is tailored to the dog in front of us.
