Step 3: Protection Development
Once obedience standards have been established, dogs progress to advanced protection training. This stage may include scent detection, tracking, defence exercises and controlled protection work. For younger dogs who are not yet mature enough for full protection training, foundational protection skills can be introduced through play-based exercises.
Step 4: Real-World Scenario Training
Instead of focusing on the training tools, we train our dogs to ‘warn’ and ‘attack’ on your command and to stop just as quickly when instructed. This ensures your family protection dog is ready to protect in any real-life situation that may occur. As well as this, they will be socialised to interact safely with people and other animals, so they remain confident but not aggressive.
Step 5: Owner Handover
Following successful completion of training, owners undertake a structured four-week handover programme. During this period, owners learn how to handle, command and maintain their dog’s training standards in real-world situations. To maintain a high standard of performance, ongoing maintenance training is highly recommended.
